The staff of the Union R-XI Early Childhood Program includes Early Childhood Special Education program (ECSE), Missouri Preschool Program (MPP), Union R-XI District Preschool Program, and Parents As Teachers (PAT). We believe that early childhood education must provide a safe nurturing and positive environment that promotes and assesses physical, social/emotional, and cognitive development of children. All staff believe it is necessary to integrate the child’s prior knowledge, needs and experiences while building mutual understanding and guidance with families. Each child is recognized as a unique individual with the capacity to learn. Children are active learners and when participating in both group and individual exploration, we encourage children to experiment, explore, interact, observe, and manipulate the materials at their own level of development. The benefits for the child are increased when home and school support each other.
